We approach activism and advocacy from the perspective of our five pillars: Racial Justice and Gender Equity, Environmental Justice, Economic Equality, Human Rights, and Corporate Governance. We draw strength from the array of skills, identities, and lived experiences that the NorthStar staff brings to our shareholder engagement and activism work; we are steadfastly guided by our deeply held conviction that the financial system is broken, that people are suffering, and that we need to help our clients use their resources to effect meaningful change. This year’s report reflects how intersectional thinking guides us our thinking on topics such as fair chance employment, protecting human rights, and combating systematic oppression.
